A Changed Life

Acts 9:21–31 describes the period shortly after Saul's conversion to Christianity. People are amazed that Saul, who had previously persecuted Christians, is now preaching that Jesus is the Son of God. As his preaching becomes more powerful, some opponents plot to kill him, so believers help him escape from Damascus. Later, when Saul arrives in Jerusalem, many disciples are afraid of him until Barnabas vouches for his genuine conversion. Saul then boldly preaches in Jerusalem until threats against his life arise again, and the believers send him to safety. The passage concludes by noting that the church throughout the region experiences peace, growth, and encouragement through the Holy Spirit.
